ESL Coordinator/Teacher

Position Overview 

 

The ESL Coordinator/Teacher will be responsible for coordinating the ESL program and ensuring that all ELL students receive effective and appropriate English language instruction. Key skills include careful planning, clear communication, practical wisdom, classroom leadership, strong organization, and the ability to promote a campus environment characterized by joy, respect, order, wonder, and deep engagement. The ESL Teacher/Coordinator will embody and promote Valor’s classical educational vision, with its primary emphasis on helping students to grow in wisdom and virtue.

 

Other Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Planning and delivering instruction that meets the needs of ELL students of various levels
  • Coordinating ELL program to meet all state and federal requirements
  • Administering appropriate language and academic assessments for placement and performance assessment
  • Assisting in training teachers on the ELPS (English Language Proficiency Standards)
  • Adapting curriculum as necessary for one-on-one, small group, and whole class instruction
  • Coordinating all aspects of the LPAC (Language Proficiency Assessment Committee) process
  • Maintaining accurate, organized, compliant records for all ELL students
  • Identifying all new ELL students as they enter school in accordance with state requirements
